Frequently Asked Questions

When is the best time to schedule a maternity session?
Generally, I like to schedule your maternity session between 28-32 weeks of pregnancy to ensure that you'll have the images ready in time for any announcements or other plans you have before the baby arrives and to also avoid experiencing the discomforts of late pregnancy.

Can my husband and children join?

Absolutely!

What should I wear?

Choose clothing that inspires you to feel your very best during your session. Choosing clothing that accentuates your body and bump is recommended. I also provide guidance with outfits; I am here to help you feel and look your best!

What about hair and makeup?

Investing in hair and makeup is suggested but not mandatory.  Your hands will be in shots, so manicured nails are recommended.

Where does the session take place?

Maternity sessions can take place in the comfort of your own home, my studio, a park, where you got engaged, or somewhere inspiring and meaningful to you and your loved one. I am also available to suggest a location within HRM/Annapolis Valley.

Can I bring props?

Yes, of course! This is your maternity session and you are more than welcome to bring anything that inspires you. Some suggestions include: toddler t-shirt, tiny shoes, sonogram, floral crown, special toy, letter board, letter balloons, hat, books, etc.!

I'm feeling insecure, do I even want photos?

My job is to make you look and feel amazing during our time together. Rest assured, you will look gorgeous in your photos!

When is the best time of day to shoot?

Outdoor sessions are best held during golden hour when the light is softest, approximately 2 hours before sunset.  Exact times will vary at different times of the year and can be discussed when booking.

Do you provide guidance with posing?

Don't worry! I will gently guide you into poses. If you have any specific concerns or feel uncomfortable with any part of your body please let me know as we will discuss this prior and I will pose you in the most flattering manner.

These special photos will be looked back on by your children, giving them an insight into the world before they were born. There are so many reasons to celebrate this special time.
